Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Employment question
I recently interviewed for a job with Child Protective Services. I signed an affidavit stating that I had no record regarding any crimes involving a minor. The affidavit listed many possible crimes, but at the end it states,''Please list Similar or related conduct matter or things''. If none write none. I left it blank. But in 1997 when I was 20yrs. old I pleaded guilty to a class C misdeamenor assualt. This incident did not involve a minor though. My question might have I have perjured myself by not listing this and signing the affidavit? I assume their will be a crim background check. Will a misdeamenor come up on a background check?
Thanks

Re: Employment question
1) The misdeanor should appear on your background check.
2) There are arguments against your actions being purjury. Mainly, you can see that some of the terms on the affidavit may be unclear, such as "Similar or related conduct matter or things." If the assault charge was not similar to the other activites listed, then you should be clear.
