Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Espongement of criminal charges

Is there a way to go back to court and clean my record of a class c misdemeanor charge, if there has been considerable time since the offense and no similar charges have been made? The charge was possession of marijuana. 15 grams approx. I saw a special on Dateline ,Sunday 14, that made reference to such a judiciary procedure in which a dismissal of charges and a cleaning of records was granted by a Judge, in many cases. I believe the term they used was referred to as "espongement". Pardon my spelling if incorrect.

Expungement of criminal records

There is no provision for expungement of misdemeanor convictions - or any other unpardoned conviction. However, "C" misdemeanors do not usually show on a NCIC check, and even if expunged would still be something you might have to disclose for certain jobs.
