Re: expongement

An attorney can only practice law in the state or states in which she is licensed. Where the attorney actaully lives makes no difference - its a matter of license.

Re: expongement

Ms. Dunn made a generalization that I would like to clarify. An attorney may only practice in the state(s) in which s/he is licensed EXCEPT IF the attorney is licensed in one state and:

* Is admitted pro hac vice (for the case) in another state.

* Is granted general admission to a particular court in another state.

* Is in-house counsel in another state and complies with state registration procedures for in-house counsel in that state.

* Is practicing in another state which has reciprocity with the licensing state and registration procedures are complied with in that state.

* Is practicing before a federal agency which allows attorneys from any state to practice (such as the USPTO).

Your question was specific to expongement procedures, which I am completely unfamiliar with. I have no idea if an attorney could be granted a special exception or admission for that type of process.

I merely wanted to clarify for general information purposes.
