My exwife boyfriend was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. it happen 2years ago and the state decided to pick up the case. His bond was set at 25,000. What does that mean? I live in Dallas, Tx

It means that he is charged with a second degree felony and facing from 2 to 20 years in prison, or possibly deferred adjudication probation depending on his record. He can choose to plea bargain with the state for a set sentence, or go to trial. The prosecutor handling the case will contact you about your feeling about the case and punishment.
