Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

felon in possession of firearms

My daughter recently left her husband and took the two children. Her husband is in possession of several firearms that were purchased by my daughter. She did not know he was a felon and just found out from her father-in-law. Her husband is adamant about keeping the weapons and may have traded or sold a pistol that is registered in my daughters name. What is the best course of action and what are the possible charged against my daughter?

Re: felon in possession of firearms

If your daughter has proof of ownership of the firearms, then they have been stolen from her which is a crime just like any other.

If this is reported to law enforcement, there are severe penalties for a felon who possesses firearms, and you may expect an arrest and prosecution of him.

If he commits a crime with one of the firearms you may expect your daughter to be the subject of a police investigation.
