Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
If a female were caught in a prostitution sting, this is her first arrest/offense. How would she go about asking/filing for deferred ajudication. Is this even possible in a case like this, and are there any other avenues so as to have the least impact on her record and financially. She has very few financial resourses, so your help is greatly appreciated.
1 Answer from Attorneys
She needs to hire an attorney immediately. The attorney can represent her, but he or she can also explain the effects of various pleas that she may make and whether they can later be expunged or be subject to a non-disclosure. Of course, the attorney can also evaluate whether she should elect to go to trial.
The attorney will also know what the prosecutor will likely be willing to do in this case. She may have few resources, but failure to protect herself will cost her dearly in the future.
