Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

fraud

I married a con artist who deceived me into taking a home equity loan out on my house. I had no job and he put on the loan that he was a player agent for professional hokey--the bank did not check this out. The money and he are long gone and I am stuck with the loan. Is there anything that I can do? Are there any charges that can be made against hime?

Re: fraud

Falsying information to obtain credit is a violation of Penal Code Section 32.32. You should contact the district attorney's office to obtain information on filing a complaint against your husband. A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly makes a materially false or misleading written statement to obtain property or credit for himself or another. An offense under this section is a state jail felony if the value of the property or the amount of credit is $1,500.00 or more but less than $20,000.00; a felony of the third degree if the value of the property or the amount of credit is $20,000.00 or more but less than $100,000.00 . . . the penalties increase as the value of the property or amount of credit increases.
