Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I have a friend who has been arrested on assault charges in texas. He and his brother were in a verbal confrontation. The brother decided to go and file a police report saying that my friend threatened him with a knife. Now, in realizing his error, the brother and family are trying to get the charges dropped. If they can't or the state won't drop them, what can he do? This will be his third strike so it's pretty serious.

Your friend needs to hire an attorney NOW. The fact of the two previous convictions will weigh heavily on the prosecutor when deciding whether to charge him and his attorney can best intervene here rather than after the state is more committed to the case.
