Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I have a friend who had an insodent w/a child. Charges were brought, then later dropped by the mother who belived it all to have been a misunderstanding. The thing is that the state picked it up anyway. Now he has to register as a sex offender. Is there any way he can get that taken off?

Maybe. First, he either pled guilty or was found guilty by a judge or jury so it was not a misunderstanding. He has to register as a sex offender as a result of that finding. He may be able to get the time for registration reduced depending on the age of the child, the actual offense, and his age at the time of the offense. He should consult with a local lawyer.
