Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My friends son is on probation for having a unlawful weapon .is it ok for him to be with a convicted felon

No, a standard conviction of every probation I've ever seen in the State of Texas is that the probationer "[a]void persons or places of disreputable or harmful character, including any person, other than a family member of the defendant, who is an active member of a criminal street gang." This likely could be interpreted to include fellow probationers and convicted felons. It is not a good idea for your son to hang out with him/her.
