Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Hello I'm so glad I found this. Ok I had a question about 3rd degree felony. You see two of my friends were charged with it. they were charged with possession and manufacturing of a prohibited weapon. Now the here is the story: They, as the news put it, blew up a Hawaiian Shave Ice stand. Of course this is an exaggeration but anyway, they created what is called a "works bomb" What that is is that they bought Works brand toilet bowl cleaner, and aluminum and put it in a water bottle and sealed it. It creates some kind of chemical reaction which releases gas and after a while the bottle explodes. They didn't "explode" the snow cone stand. They exploded a bottle near it. There were no injuries. What they were doing here is vandalism at the most but since they are being charged with a 3rd degree felony I'm wondering if there is any kind of legal advice i could pass on to them. Should they stick with a public defender or hire a private lawyer. Would it be possible for them to plea bargain?

Based on the information that you have provided, I would suggest hiring a private lawyer. A felony is no joke and you should have an experienced attorney. They may be able to plea bargain but not without an attorney. If your friends cannot afford an attorney, take the court appointed public defender. It is better to have an attorney to ensure they get the best results.
