Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Hello,
I was convicted of a felony way back in 1988 when I was 19 years old. I served 10 years probation for delivery of a controlled substance. I am now a single parent of 2 children. My question is, what are the gun laws for people that had been previously convicted of a felony over 20 years ago? I am interested in possibly taking CHL classes in order to protect myself and my children. I would appreciate any information you could give me on gun ownership, usage, and if I am able to shoot at gun ranges.
Thank you!

It's not exactly a question of ownership--it's possession, which is a little different (care, custody, control, or management). You should now be able to legally possess a firearm in your own home, but you can't anywhere else--including a gun range.
