Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

in a house where (3) people live, a search warrant was executed. in one bed room there was found 4 glass pipes, some marijuana, some Xanax and a $100.oo counterfit bill. the person living in that room admitted that those things belonged to him. The police told him not to worry about it, that it wasn't a big thing. But I was charged with possession of a controlled substance that was found in the living room, (a common area) and forgery. I knew nothing about any drugs. How can this happen? Is it legal? sounds predujudical to me.

"Prejudicial"?

Hire a lawyer. They have to prove that you knowingly possessed the drugs in the common area. If they were within your reach or with items associated with you, then they have some evidence that it was you. (If it was in plain view, potentially all 3 could be charged with it.)

Just because they handle one person's potential charge in a manner does not negate their ability to charge another. Perhaps your roomie is a snitch.
