Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My husband stopped to give his coworker a ride to work. As they were stepping out of his house the police pull up looking for his coworkers son. One of the officers asked my husband to step off the porch and then he proceeded to search him. They found 1 joint on him. He was arrested. He asked the officer why he searched him and he responded " because you were in possession of marijuana" so... did they have a right to search him? Would it be worth fighting? I live in texas. Thanks!

Hire a lawyer. If the search happened as you described, then there is a great possibility that the search (and recovery of marijuana) was illegal.
