Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Is it illegal for a roommate of a felon to own a firearm in the place of residence if the firearm is owned/registered to the roommate, is kept in a case/safe, and the place of residence is owned by the felon?

That's going to depend on very specific circumstances, so I'd say probably not, but I'm not comfortable saying its absolutely okay. However, something most people don't know is that it's legal for a convicted felon to own a firearm, the issue is whether it's legal to possess it, an it's legal to possess it inside your own home as long as its been at least five years since the last date you were incarcerated, on parole, or on probation.
