Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Juvenile - Compelling Prostitution

My 14 yr old, honor roll student learned that her friend had sex with a 17 yr old boy. She got mad and said she paid the boy 15 dollars to do it. The sex is now rape and the school just notified me that my daughter has been charged with a class 2 felony of compelling prositution and must go to an AEP. Can they arrest her and when do I request a court appointed attorney?

Right now you are still in the school system. Schools don't provide Court Appointed Attorneys. Courts do. In order to get one, your daughter must be charged in court with the offense.

This has not and hopefully will not occur. However the school will turn over its information to the authorities. If the DA who reviews the data determines that an offense has occured then she will be arrested.

You need to retain an attorney familiar with juvenile law as well as criminal law.

You need to hire yourself a good attorney that can go to the District Attorney Office and get this whole issue stopped before it even gets started.

These are just kids and if I was representing your daughter I would focus on the fact that kids do stupid things and this was just a lie.

Bottom line just hire a good lawyer fast.
