Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Juvenile Issue ''phone harrasment''?
OK, my daughter (and freind(s)) made some prank phone calls while at a sleepover. I mean, singing on the phone, burping, etc... Someone that they called made a complaint to the PD. I get a call from the PD the mext morning, questioning me, and I told them I would resolve it, the first officers that I talked to told me no chages were going to be filed- I now today get a call from a detective, saying that he wants me and my daughter to come in and discuss this ''phone harrasment''. I am very uncomfortable with this- he was very vague in regards to possible charges- I don't feel like I should have to go in- I am concerned that I need legal rep.- Any advice??? I am new to the area and don't have any legal contacts yet. I don't want some detective grilling my 11 year old and have her say something she shouldn't.

My advice would be to not agree to an interview. The detective more than likely will tried to get a confession. Instead, I would wait to see if charges are filed. If so, then I would hire a lawyer.
