Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Juvenile law

My nephew 13yo 8th grader recently was caught with a package of 3 throwing knife at school. It

was a gift intended for a friend. The school expelled him and is making him

attend DCJJAP for 90 days and filing criminal charges.

He is staying at home now. What should I do to re-instate him back to public school? does he has to go to DCJJAP before he can go back to school? we have a court date end of this month, what should we do?

Re: Juvenile law

His parents need to get him a lawyer. If they cannot afford one, they need to ask the judge to appoint one. They will probably have to reimburse the county for the cost.

The juvenile justice proceedings are separate and apart from the school system, and the school district should have their regulations available at their website. To contest or appeal the ruling, he may need a lawyer, and there are strict deadlines.
