What kind of evidence
what kind of evidence does the law need to charge and hold someone on a burglary charge ?

Enough that a reasonable person would believe that there is a substantial likelihood that 1) a burglary has been committed and 2) the person being charged is the one (or one of a group) that committed it.
As far as being "held": As a general rule, the person will be entitled to post bond and getting out of jail, pending trial.
