Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

large drug charge

i was setup by a close friend, i dont sell drugs. he asked me to help him by getting him connected with a guy that does as a favor because he needed cash really bad. i was pulled over in traffic with 1000 pills of extacy that belonged to the guy i was introducing to my friend. turns out my friend is a narc and he needed to get some people so he wouldnt go to prison. police told me if i worked with them they wouldnt convict me because they knew i wasnt a real criminal. they told me i was gunna get 5-99 years because each pill counts as 1 charge of manslaughter. well i have a family and they cant live without me so i agreed to help them, and admited to knowing the pills were in my vehicle. but i told them i didnt know where we were going or who we were seeing and i was just driving this guy somewhere because he asked me to and he would pay me for taking him.(at that time i had not figured out how i was setup. and wanted to protect my friend.. even now i have no real proof of that fact) i dont know any real criminals and im afraid they are going to stop giving me the chance to work off my charges by narcing. im so lost, overwhelmed and scared. please help

Re: large drug charge

If no one was killed, I would not worry about manslaughter. However the 1000 pills sounds like it was possession of a controlled substance. If the substance is the same there will be only one charge. However, the penalty depends on the amount possessed

This depends on the type of substance. For MDMA, which I understand is ecstacy

possession of over 400 grams carries a punishment of range of 5 to 99 years in prison. Possession of 4 to 400 grams is a second degree felony with a punishment range of 2 to 20 years. This is a serious matter and you need to hire a criminal defense lawyer to help you.
