Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Laws covering phone call harassment at a home.

My 14 year old daughter has received phone calls from my ex-wifes friend and theese calls are upsetting my daughter. Are there any laws that I can use to protect my daughter from these phone calls? No threats have been made by any party. My daughters phone line is under my name and account.

Re: Laws covering phone call harassment at a home.

Before I can answer your question, i would need to know the nature of these calls. If they are not threatening, then why are they upsetting her? Are they sexually explicit or abusive? If you feel that these calls are harming your child you could apply to the court for a temproary restraining order against him and then get a hearing on the matter. Also, just as a practical matter, you might try placing a block on your phone for the number or numbers he usually calls from.

If you reply with more specific information, I might be able to help you in this matter.
