Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

When a lawyer is court appointed in a criminal case, how obligated is he/she to represent the client.Or is it just a formality ?

He has a duty to represent his client just the same as if he had been paid a $5000 retainer.

If you want to fight the case, tell your lawyer, and tell him that you want to demand a jury trial.
