if i do not have an lawyer by my court date may i reset my court date so i can have more time to hire an lawyer

This is up to the judge. Many judges think that defendants who don't get attorneys hired in a timely fashion are intentionally wasting the court's time. You need to come to court prepared to explain why you have not yet hired an attorney. Good luck.
