Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Do I need a lawyer? What's my next step
I was called by a local investigator, last week her message stated that I was a suspect in a hit and run accident. She also stated that she had 2 or more witnesses to this incident and that if i did not contact her within the week she would feel like i was involved and issue a warrant for my arrest. I was never involved in any hit and run, I have 2 small children, and 2 jobs, I have tried to call this investigator several times, always having to leave a message. I have no home telephone for her to call me back at, she knows where I work, How can I even check to see If shes issued a warrant for alleged crime? How do I defend myself? Should I have an attorney with me when i do go in to speak with her? Thank you for your time

I do not know where you reside, but you need to call a bondsman or several bondsman in your area and have them search to see if there is a warrant outstanding for your arrest. Finally, in order to defend yourself you need to hire a criminal defense attorney, not just an attorney, but someone who practices criminal defense all the time. Let that attorney decide whether you should go into the police and make a statement to the investigator or not. I do not recommend anyone talk to the police without an attorney being present.
