Legal defintion of fight

My friends and I tend to wrestle around on the A&M campus, and I was wondering if it was considered a fight. Nobody has the intent of hurting eachother; however these matches tend to involve a large amount of people. We recently got a threat to be arrested, but nobody involved thought we did anything wrong. Would these wrestling matches be claimed as ''fighting'' legally?

Hello there,

From what you have described it does not sound like a fight. However, if someone gets a broken nose, arm or even a broken neck somebody could call the police and a report would be taken.

Texas Law doesn't legally call a fight a fight we call it an assault and if someone's has lost the normal use of a mental or physical faculty it turns into an aggravated assault which is a second degree felony.

To avoid any such charges it might be good to draw up a form that states what you are doing can be dangerous and people can be hurt and that it is the intended persons position that they are waiving all civil and criminal rights they may have because they are entering into the match through their own accord.
