legal record keeping me homeless
got charged with burglery of habitation in 1983, did probation, defrd judication, no felony , but an nc no charge. on background check. property owners see it as a felony,so will not rent to me. i have never been convicted. help

you should be eligible for what is called a "petition for non-disclosure." This does not clear your record, but pretty much seals it from most private entities (like property owners). You should consult with a local attorney if you can afford one. If you cant afford an attorney, try contacting the court and ask to speak to a clerk. They might be able to walk you through the procedure.
