Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
legal/illegal arrest
I was arrested for disorderly conduct by a security guard on the grounds of a hotel in Irving TX, Dallas County. The offense took place within the guard's view. The guard identified himself as a police officer and handcuffed and detained me while waiting for local Irving police. The guard is a police officer in another city and in different county of Texas.
My question is whether he is able to make this arrest for a class C misdameanor charge.
My understanding of the law is that he can only do this for a felony or for disturbing the peace.
Thank you.

Re: legal/illegal arrest
He is a law enforcement officer, and the offense occurred in his presence. If all other factors are legal, then his detainment was legal.
