Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Legally obligated to disclose?
I was 16 when I was convicted of a sex crime I committed when I was 12 years old. Class C misdemeanor. Indecency with a child. I completed 10 years of registration in 2008. My name and record was removed from the sex offender list online. Do I have to say that I have committed a crime when I am asked in a job application or application for an apartment? As far as I know the record is sealed/closed.

Re: Legally obligated to disclose?
Indecency with a child is not a Class C misdemeanor. Were you certified as an adult, or was it handled through the juvenile system? You need to know, and you need to verify that your record is sealed. If it was a Class C offense in the juvenile system, then you were not convicted of a crime. Hire a to lawyer to determine the exact nature of the offense, and the file.
