Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Libel, defamation of character

Can person1 in Texas sue person2 for posting untrue, unfounded allegations on the internet, and sending letters to person1's employer and harassing person1 continuously for 3 years. Apparently, person1 is under medical care for mental illness problems. What recourse does person1 have?

Initially, the libel was against person1 and his wife and her business. We are very frustrated because the police, the FBI, Homeland Security, mental health professionals have had contact with us and although they agree that person2 is sick; no one is doing anything to stop it. In the meantime this person1 is blogging on internet and sending messages making allegations which could have serious professional injury of character.

Please advise if we should look for an attorney, and if so what kind of an attorney we need.

Thank you.

You do need an attorney. Unfortunately, the cause of action is an expensive one to prosecute. Review the attorneys on this list in the metroplex, or contact the Dallas Bar Association. Ask for a referral in civil litigation (not commercial litigation). Good luck.
