Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

How can we locate a criminal

Our son in law was in jail for violation of a restraining order issued by the court for our daughter. He was terribly abusive to her and their son. We all kept track of him through the Sheriff's Dept. inmate list on the web. We were then told, he had been transferred to the State Mental Hospital for evaluation. He is not listed on the Sheriff's web site, and the hospital will not tell us if he is in the hospital or not. We are all scared, because he is very mean and vindictive. How can we locate him ? No one, not even the sheriff's dept. will tell us anything. It's like he is suddenly the victim here. We just want to know if he is still in custody or if we all should start watching our backs.

Because of privacy issues, you will probably need a court order to assure that you will be notified if released from custody. If the order was issued out of family court, then return to the same court and ask the court to order the law enforcement agency to notify you (or the court) if he is released from custody. If the order was issued by a criminal court, then contact the investigator's office with the District Attorney.
