How long can the Smith County Sheriff's Department, Tyler,TX, hold someone in jail before they have to try or dismiss the case?

It depends. On a felony case, the state has 90 days to indict someone before the judge is required to give the defendant a PR bond or a more reasonable bond that would afford the defendant the opportunity to get out of jail pending a trial.
