Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Well around midnight on march 26,2010, march 27,2010, I was pulled over for not having plates on the back of my car... See the day before my car was towed and they took my paper plates off my car, and when u dropped my friend off some where I guess he dropped some weed in my car.... I didn't notice it until I was pulled over.....some I just reacted fast and put it in my glove compartment, and locked it...... So the officer comes up and tells me that the reason why he was pullin me over was because I didn't have plates on my car, and ask for liscence and insurance.. I told him all I have is my ID, because I don't have a driver liscence and any insurance.... So he goes back and runs my ID, and call for back up..... Then, he comes back to my car, and asks me if i'ved had anything to drink tonight , not thinking, I said two.... Then he ask me to get out the car, and perform the drunk test... Passed it with flyin colors....then he tells me to turnaround and put my hands on my head, and then he handcuffs me... Then I asked if I'm being arrested and he said yes........then he dispatch to have the wrecker to come tow my car.... Then I asked him if I could call someone to pick my car up, or if I could just leave it at the Wendy's where I smartly stop at, and he said no.... Then he pats me down and fines a lighter and wallet on me, and put me in the back of the cop car. Then he searches my car, and he had to have unlocked my glove compartment, because as I previous stated I locked my glove compartment, but that when he finds the marijuana... It was like maybe .6 of a gram rolled up in a cigarillo... What can I do in the situation......

The cop can easily arrest you for driving without a license. The issue becomes whether or not impounding the vehicle and resulting inventory search are valid. You may have an argument depending on where your vehicle was parked. I would suggest hiring a good lawyer who will do the research necessary taking all the details of your case into account.
