Re: misdemeanor

You need to speak to an attorney from Texas. NY does not have an expungment statute and even if it did, it couldn't expunge an out of state record.

I have no idea what it costs but I recommend you go to our lawyer's panel, or to AVVO.Com and look for a qualified lawyer there. Speak to a bunch of them. After a while a figure will jump out as the fee most charge. Be prepared to pay at least that amount. Cheap lawyers are generally not good lawyers. (OTOH sometimes a good young lawyer will undersell himself, he will learn to increase his fees soon.) You can select from that group, or speak to someone who is charging more. Find out why he thinks he is entitled to more. If it makes sense, hire that person.

Good Luck.

Re: misdemeanor

You may qualify for an Order of Non-Disclosure. The record would be shielded from all but 23 various agencies. Contact an attorney in the Houston area - there are several on this board. Good luck.
