Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I missed jury duty, I didnt mean too, my husband has cancer and he was very sick all night long and it just slipped my mind. What should I do and what can happen to me? Will I be put in jail? I am scared to death, I of course dont want to go to jail. Thank you, Autrey Justice King

It'll be okay--I really don't think a judge would punish you under those circumstances. There should be a phone number on the summons to call if you have any problems. Call tomorrow and explain what happened, and they will probably either just tell you not to worry about it, or will reschedule you for a future date. Very occasionally, a judge will get upset enough about summoned jurors not showing up to send deputies out to go pick people up, but that really is unusual. Just call and explain, and it should be okay. I'm sorry you're going through that with your husband--I hope things get better for you.
