Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My mom allows me to use her vehicle to go to school in another city. However, I made an emergency trip to see my half-sister in the hospital and she asked me to return it because I used it for something other than school. Can she legally file theft charges against me if I don't? There is no written contract and I'm insured on the vehicle.

It is her vehicle. She gives you permission to use if for X. You take it and use it for Y. You are using it without her effective consent and she can file charges. They probably won't take the charges as long as you returned the car but if you do not, then they could accept the charges. It is not your car.
