Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
A few months ago I was fired from a retail job for theft. The official reason for termination was policy violation. There were no police involved, however I did sign papers I wasn't really sure about. Recently, I heard that signing those papers could have been some kind of conviction. Is this true? I have no idea what to do.

You cannot be convicted of anything unless you have been to court and pled guilty or gone to trial and be found guilty. If you signed an admission, that admission along with the other evidence could be presented to police for pressing a charge of theft.
