You do not have any rights to obtain information from the District Attorneys office, who prosecutes the case. Your nephew has that right through his attorney. The lawyer can obtain the information being withheld by filing motions with the court.

You can obtain anything that is a public record which is on file in the District Clerk's office in that county. There may be little on file other than the indictment for the crime, however.
