Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Need another opinion...

I am a nurse and had an addiction problem last year that led to me diverting durgs at the hospital I worked at. The hospital said they didnt want to press charges but they were required by law to report it to the authorities. After it happened my lawyer said I shoud expect to hear something within a couple months. It has now been a year and I have yet to hear ANYTHING from police regarding this, and I know I don't have a warrant because I checked a few weeks ago. I have been in TPAPN, a program for recovering nurses for a year now and have excellent documented recovery efforts and twice a month drug screens. I'm back working in nursing since the state board of nursing seems to think I deserve another chance, but I'm scared all my efforts will be in vain if down the road I am still charged with something. I'm well aware of the statues for misdemenors and felonies if I were to be charged, but is it good news that I haven't heard anything yet? And if I do hear something how much will my recovery efforts help me?

I would consider it very good news that you haven't heard anything. Even in slow counties, a year is pushing it. If charges do come, your recovery efforts will help a great deal.

Since you are a nurse, the authorities may be the BON, in which case, it would take longer than a year. I would let your attorney handle the matter for you.
