Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

order dismissing cause and terminating probation

Approx. 18 years ago my probation was terminated early and discharged but unsatisfactory. The probation officer recommended that I be terminated early since I had to move to another city due to an abusive relationship. The court awarded that early termination to me. I was suppose to receive deferred adjudication, can I not still get that. I recently applied for an insurance license and the conviction came up. I was unaware that it was on my record because my attorney told me that I was discharged and free to live my life with a fresh start. Can someone help me understand my situation. Thank you so much.

Re: order dismissing cause and terminating probation

An attorney is going to need to get a complete copy of your file from the court, in order to determine what happened in your case. If you had deferred, then the early termination should not have affected it. You say, however, that it was unsatifactory, and that creates some concern as to the final disposition. Only a copy of your file from the court can resolve these questions.
