Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
If I paid a lawyer to take my case and 2 years has went by and nothing has come of it, no charges have been filed or anything, am I entitled to a refund of any portion of the money that I paid her?

If you have a contract, then it depends on what the contract says. In addition, were charges not filed because of the work that the lawyer did (which means that she definitely earned the fee)? Why don't you try talking to the lawyer about a partial refund and see what she says.
You must consult your contract. Many contracts state that the fee is non-refundable.
The charges not being filed maybe a direct result of the efforts of your attorney. While a case is pending there are administrative functions related to your case that must be performed by your attorney and your attorney's staff. There is research, investigation of the facts, analysis of the law and facts of your particular case, phone calls, and correspondence with the agencies involved with the matter while it is pending.
Consult your attorney to discuss the matter.
