Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

parole appeal

My friend is in prison in Texas for a parole violation. She has served nearly 4 years on this violation and was just given a 2 year set off. She has served nearly 8 years of a 15 year sentence already and it will be 10 of 15 by the time she comes up for review again. We had an attorney represent her in this case and he didn't do all that good of a job at it. Is there a way to appeal this set off? Is there a way to re-address her original sentence back in 1993? Her aunt was the co-defendant in the original charge and the aunt was given an 18 month sentence while my friend got a 15 year sentence for the same offense. I am asking for assistance anyway possible. thank you for your time.

Re: parole appeal

There are very few avenues available in parole issues. The TDC functions by a separate set of rules than a court of law, as a person has already been convicted. There are also only a very few lawyers who specialize in this area of the law, and you need a lawyer who handles this type of law only. Contact the bar associations in Austin and in Huntsville for referrals. I am not aware of lawyers on this website that concentrate in parole law.

Good luck.
