Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Is a partially forged document valid?
We have a four page contract with a broker to sell our business. The two center pages of the document have our initials which were forged by the broker. Does this make the contract invalid? We have the original carbon with no initials. We did sign the first and last page as it was presented to us. We have a court approved hand writing expert that has verified that the document was forged by the broker.

Re: Is a partially forged document valid?
It depends on if the initialed pages are different from yours. If not and the substancial terms of the contract were not changed then you are still bound by the contract--the broker will probably claim he had your permission to initial the pages as it was a simple mistake--You should hire an attorney to look at the contract and give you further advice.
