Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I pled no contest to a class C misdemeanor assault in 1997 for assault in Texas. I found out my husband was cheating 3 years into our marriage and we got into a fight in a parking lot. The police were called and I was arrested. I had never been in trouble before for anything before this or since this except for one speeding ticket. As a result of this incident, my husband started seeing a Christian councelor and changed shifts so he would not be on the same shift as the woman he was having an affair with. I started attending the sessions with him and now we have been married for 16 1/2 years and have 3 wonderful children. I am attending college to become a teacher. Will I be able to be certified in Texas? Have you had any experience with something like this preventing someone from becoming a teacher? I have always wanted to be a teacher but if it is impossible, I do not want to put my family any further in debt.
