Re: posession

The good news is that Possession of Marijuana for four ounces or less is a Class A misdemeanor. Greater than four ounces but less than five pounds is a state jail felony. So if it was exactly four ounces you are not looking at a felony.

You need a criminal defense attorney to defend you against these charges. It is hard to predict what will occur from one county to the other. In Bexar county, where I practice, for a class A misdemeanor with no priors, you would be offered probation or deferred adjudication which would consist of a fine, court costs, community service and classes. Of course you also have the option of going to jail. That's certainly cheaper.
