Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
posession of marijuana
in texas, is there a law that says your license must be suspended for 6 months if you are found posessing marijuana, and if so, is there a way around it? my attorney says no. i was found with less than a gram of pot and am moving back to l.a. where i must have a car to work, etc. i don't have a texas driver license, only califonia- can they suspend that as well?

Re: posession of marijuana
If you receive a final conviction for marihuana, you are subject to having your license suspended. However, if you receive a Deferred Adjudication, your license will not be suspended.
If your license is suspended, you may be eligible for an Occupational License, depending on your criminal history and your driving record.
Texas may contact California regarding your driver's license suspension, and California may suspend your California License. I have no idea.
