i was placed on probation in 1997, in 1999 a motion to adjudicate guilt,then 2002 order extending probation 1 year for same charge. some companys ask if you have been convicted in the past 10 years, from what year do i start to count to find out that answer?

You were not convited in 1997. When the motion to adjudicate was filed in 1999, if the court granted it and put you on straight probation then THAT TIME is when you were convicted. That the probation ran until 2003 is not the issue if it asks if you were convicted in the past 10 years.

So, if your probation was adjudicated in say 2000, then the answer would be no. (If your deferred was not adjudicated but the deferred extended, then you were never convicted.)

If you successfully completed the deferred - it was never adjudicated - then you should petition the court for nondisclosure.
