Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Probation Release

I am on a ten year probation and have done about 3 1/2 years of it. Theres never been any diry drug tests and all the terms have been met. Although for some reason I am required to attentd AA until the end of my probation. Is this normal? And also in a few years is there a way to get an early release?

Re: Probation Release

The Texas Code of Criminal Procedure allows a person on probation to apply for an early discharge after they have completed at least 1/3 of their probation (unless they are on probation for DWI). A qualified criminal defense lawyer in your community can give you insight into how successful that motion might be in your particular case. Please consult with a criminal lawyer to help you navigate these tricky waters.

Re: Probation Release

Hello there,

After you have completed one third of your probation term you are eligible to file a motion for early release. However, you cannot have your probation terminated early if you are on probation for an intoxication offense.
