It depends on what the wrong information is and where it came from. Because of the serious consequences, one should never violate a protective order until they are absolutely positive that it is not valid. A person against whom a possibly invalid protective order had been made should check with an attorney before doing anything. The protected party should also check with an attorney to find out if they are, in fact, protected.
