Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
How do I prosecute two teens for breaking into my vehicle?
Two teens were arrested last night for breaking into my vehicle(and two others in the same parking lot). The teens totally destroyed the Passenger window, Radio, Dash and trunk. The teens also did roughly the same damage to the other two vehicles.
The police were called and were able to arrest the two individuals. Now how do I get the suspects to pay for the damage and monetary loss they caused? Who is held responsible and how do I receive compensation?

Talk to the DA about making them pay restitution to you. Make sure that you can show the DA how much will need to be paid to fix the damage. That said, as part of a plea, if the guilty parties don't have any money, they can sit their time out in jail, and pay nothing. You can file suit civil court, get a judgment, then try to collect it. If they're juveniles, maybe their parents will pay as part of a plea, but don't hold your breath. If you get reimbursed, consider yourself lucky.
