Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I was pulled over and arrested for traffic tickets while my friend was in the car, they let her go in the car and 20 minutes later she was arrested for pills so while i was already booked for traffic tickets they gave me a possession charge, can that happen?

Obviously it can happen because it did happen. The question will be whether the state can prove that the pills were in the car and that you also possessed them. Seems like it will be really difficult since 20 minutes had passed unless a cop followed her for 20 minutes and saw everything she did and that she could not have put the pills for which you are charged in the place they were found. (For example, you give her the car upon your arrest. Cop follows her from time of release to stop. Car is yours. Blue pills are found in trunk, or in hidden area of back passenger side door, etc. She has 3 white pills. I can see them charging you and getting those charges to stick But, unless it is really tight like my example, it will be hard. She could have stashed the pills from her person to where the found them if she was not watched. She could have stopped somewhere and picked up pills, etc.) Get a good lawyer.
